Self-Care Checklist 2020

Whether you know it or not, our bodies need maintenance. It’s easy to forget about your physical self when life gets a bit crazy. However it is important to set some time aside and have a “self-Care day”. Your body needs it!

Here are a list of things you can do during your Self-Care Day:

  • Exercise- There are many great benefits from getting your heart to pump at a higher speed therefore causing you to release endorphins and build muscle. Which result in increasing your lifespan. Example; go on walks, take a dance class, do some yoga, etc.

  • Diet- A major key when it comes to self-care. We have to fuel our bodies with substances that are beneficial to our health. Take this time to make some positive changes to your diet. Example; switch out some of your current food choices for healthier ones, include a fruit and vegetable with each meal, track your calories, don’t overindulge and drink more water.

  • Sleep- The most important aspect. You have to make sure you get at least 6-8 hours of sleep. Sleep gives the body fuel to burn so if you’re not getting any sleep you’re only burning fumes. Not getting enough sleep can cause you to burn yourself out. Example goto bed earlier, take power naps, at bedtime read a book instead of being on your phone or get a sleep mask.

  • Emotional- Your emotional state is just as important. Emotions are an integral factor in being human. If you don’t deal with them and try to keep them bottled up, eventually that bottle will explode. Some ways to manage those emotions would be; see a therapist, try meditation, allowing yourself to be emotional and cry, saying NO when you don’t want to do something and taking a break from social media.

  • Intellectual- Stimulating your brain cells sharpen you mentally. Always challenge yourself by learning a new skill, getting a new hobby, listen to a podcast or watch educational documentaries or perhaps learning a new language.

Self-care options are limitless so take this time to put YOU first.
